Recruitment
PLEASE READ THIS POST AS WELL AS OUR CODE OF CONDUCT (The Unholy Syndicate's Omerta) BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE.
Game Specific RIFT - Recruitment currently Closed. We are not an RP guild. You are free to do so if you like, but it is not required, and we will not be playing on an RP server. We are also not a PvP guild, and as such will be playing on a PvE server. This does not mean that we will not have people playing in Warfronts. Age restriction of 18 years or older. Exceptions may be made for friends and family of current members at the discretion of the guilds leadership. When you join, you will be under an evaluation/trial period of at least 2 weeks (length determined by how active you are within the game). A minimum level of activity will be expected of you to retain your membership. This will not likely be set in stone and will be decided upon at the discretion of uSyn leadership based upon your length of membership and past level of activity. Ideally we would prefer that you have ALL of your characters in our guild, though we can certainly understand some reasons not to. If you feel you need to have another toon in a different guild, or already have a toon in another guild, please let us know why. Also, please refer to General Rule #5 for further protocol pertaining to extended absence. AT NO TIME FOR ANY REASON WILL 'FARMERS' (THE KOREAN SORT) OR HACKS BE TOLERATED. We can't stop you from buying stuff, nor do we like people creating the market for these dickwads, but ultimately it's your money to spend and we don't care. However, if we find you selling or you seem to always be soloing the same place 20 hours a day 7 days a week, you are gone. If at any time you are caught yelling 'NO JAM' or 'TRAVELER'S BACKPACK 20 GOLD', you will either be kicked immediately, or we will wonder if you are Cuda in disguise (don't ask....). You WILL register for this forum. This forum will be used to organize Clan events, exchange knowledge, and will provide a dedicated section (labeled as 'AFK') for you to inform us of an extended leave of absence. You absolutely will not be invited to join the guild before applying on this forum and posting in the recruitment section. Please continue reading for more information. ==================================================== Now with that out of the way, we'll get on to the good stuff. The Basics Unholy Syndicate is an on-line community of like-minded people who enjoy gaming together. Our members play all types of games and are from all walks of life. Our core members, here-forth referred to as "The Council", have known each other for many years. We are a USA/Canadian based clan/guild/community but welcome people from anywhere. As most of our members are older and have lives in the real world, we will not be a 'hardcore' style guild where you are required to raid or play clan matches for 8 hours a day 7 days per week. If we have several members who wish to get together and do so, then so be it, but that will never be a requirement. Real life takes precedent. The Unholy Syndicate is brash. We hope you can tolerate that because that's the way it is around here. We know when to hold our tongue but we believe in the freedom of speech as long as it isn’t intentionally meant to be hurtful. We are friends first, and if friends can't mess with each other than something's just wrong. Bottom line - If you are easily offended by extremely crude humor of any subject material, whether that be religion, politics, or how many of us have fucked your mother in the last year (tell Stephen we said hi), then do not bother to apply. Conversely, we will not tolerate personal attacks (unless it's on Stephen in which case it's an acceptable inconvenience). We will also not tolerate selfish douchebaggery. If you are only applying in order to gain something for yourself, then please do not bother wasting our time. This particularly applies to any MMORPG guilds which we currently have established. Consider this to be your advanced warning - the Unholy Syndicate is for those who you would not want your teenager hanging out with, is not 'work safe', and is not even remotely family friendly.. We have an 18+ policy, but at the same time we understand that age does not always equal maturity. We encourage our members to gather on our voice chat server, but it is not required (with the exception of at least being able to listen in during raids and such). Language used WILL be completely inappropriate. Refer to the 3rd paragraph of this section and read it again. ===================================================== General Rules Some of this may be repeating the above, as well as repeating itself below and in our Code of Conduct, but we have a point to hammer into your head before you decide on whether or not to apply. 1. Members are to respect each other at all times. We enjoy 'stupid humor' and this commonly involves ragging on someone continually over something dumb, like our friend Roarke ordering pizza 5 times a day or putting half a stick of butter on a bag of ultimate butter popcorn.... Do not ever take anything said in good spirit personally. With that said, members must understand that everyone has their own limits, and we will thank you to mind those limits. If you do have a real problem with a Clan mate then you take it to him/her privately and try to resolve it like adults before going higher up in the chain of command. Serious and intentional personal attacks will not be tolerated as this will undoubtedly create drama that we do not want to deal with. 2. We embrace true freedom of speech, and true freedom of speech does not make any concessions for 'vulgarity' or 'obscenity'. As such, we will expect members to be tolerant of such language. Of course, members should also refrain from excessive use of vulgarity in public in-game chat. We can joke with each other all we want but we don't want the game world passing judgment on us without knowing the way we are to each other. With that, we don't want any kiddies ending up any more scarred than they already may be. It's not my fault their mother didn't hug them enough when they were little. In clan/guild chat however, swear all you like. If you are offended by a specific series of sounds coming from someone’s voice box (or specific series of letters put together in text), no matter their usage, then we are not the right group for you. 3. The Unholy Syndicate will have limits based on its leaders perception of one's maturity. We expect you to present yourself to others in a reasonably mature manner while playing any game while affiliated with uSyn. You represent our community. If you can't do that in a good way then this isn't the place for you. If you act immature and can't respect other people then you can go packing and we won't hesitate to enforce this. The fact that we may act like jackasses amongst ourselves does not mean you can go around giving us a bad reputation. 4. All officers will be REQUIRED to have the ability to use our voice chat server. This is to ensure clear communication during meetings. During any clan matches or raids, ALL participants will be required to have access to our voice chat server installed and working. Not all participants will be required to have a working microphone, but you NEED to be able to listen. If you can't do this, then we will not allow you to run with us. We will make exceptions to this rule on a per instance evaluation. All members will be welcome to use, and will be encouraged to use our voice chat server while playing. If you choose to join our server, keep in mind that we will not clean up our language just to please your virgin ears (refer to rule #2). If you don't like something, change channels or disconnect. This should not be an issue during clan matches or raids, as at those times it should be all business and no bullshit. One more thing... YOU WILL USE PUSH TO TALK. We don't want to hear your heavy breathing, or eating chips, or shooting one over the monitor. 5. If you are going to be away for an extended period of time please use the AFK thread on our forums and post why you are going to be gone and when you are going to be back. We are more than willing to work with anyone. Family and real life comes first and we will not hold that against you. If you are offline for more than 2 weeks and do not inform anyone why or you don't post in the forums then your membership status may be revoked. When you come back you are more than welcome to talk to us about reinstatement. 6. All members will be required to speak ENGLISH. Why? Simple: we are a USA/Canada based Clan. If you have a thick accent, that's fine! You don't have to speak perfect English, but you should speak fluently enough to communicate with us. That said, we don't care where you are from. Members from all over the planet ensure that we always have somebody online. Always having people to play with is a good thing. Further Information I can't stress this enough, READ THE CODE OF CONDUCT. It is subject to change and if it does I will send out a mass email to all members letting them know that it has changed. Read it and understand it. If you don’t understand it let someone know and we will help to decipher it. Code Of Conduct The Unholy Syndicate has a Code of Conduct that they adhere to and although it is subject to change, for now it is written, so it shall be withheld as stated. Rank and Structure The Unholy Syndicate has a set Rank and Structure within the community so that there is an active chain of command. This structure is set for a reason and will be adhered to by members at all times. You can view the Rank and Structure Here. Please note that this is the Rank and Structure of our general management and may not be reflective of any clan or guild which we are currently running. Ranks may occasionally be modified as needed. Recruitment Process 1. Please sign up for our boards with the name you want to use for our gaming community. The name you post an application with is the name that will show up on the site when you post and sign up for calendar events. If joining us to play an MMORPG you don't have to use your toon's name because there is an option to add your toons to your account so that people know what toons belong to you. 2. Post a hello to inform us that you filled out an application in our Recruitment Forums. Before you post there you must register for the site (which in turn will be submitting your application) by following the link at the end of this page. Please post with the title of "(your name) - application for (Game you are applying for)". If at a later time you decide to change your name I can help you get it situated on the forums. Just be forewarned - if for the love of god if you use l33tsp3ak in your name when you register on the forums you will be rejected and your account will be banned. Games which we are currently recruiting for will be listed at the top of this page. 3. Start being active and make contributing posts to conversations. If you sign up for the Clan and say hello but never post then it will be hard for you to gain rank. We want active members and this will be enforced. Refer to our CoC and Rule #5 above for our policy on member activity. If these rules are too hard for you to handle then I suggest you find another guild/clan. If you can't take the time to follow 3 simple rules for consideration to get into this community then I don’t have the time to review your application. Remember this, as if it hasn't been stated enough: Footnote on Censorship: Thank you for your time and we hope you will join us to kick some ass. If you feel that you are a good fit for uSyn and would like to apply for our RIFT guild, please click here to fill out an application, and then go HERE and follow the instructions in the stickied thread. |
